Over 1.2 Million People Affected Due To The Drought

More than 1.2 million people in 19 districts of the
island are being  affected due to the drought as a result of the  dry weather according to the Disaster Management Center.

The Northern Province has been identified as the worst drought hit area with over 495,000 persons have been affected due to the drought the Centee has stated.

As the Animals too affected by the drought,a large number of animals living near the Thabbowa samctuary had died due to it the sources have stated.

A Landslide Occurred In Baduraliya Area

Due to the heavy showers prevailing in landslide
occurred in  around 50 meter area of the Athwalthota-Diganna road in Baduraliya.

Due to the landslide transport activities in the road had disrupted the  Baduraliya Police have stated.

A 11 Year old School girl Was Killed After A van Run Over her

A 11 year old girl was killed after a Van run over her at
hiriwadunna area on Dambulle-Habarana road last night (06)while crossing the road.

The girl living with her grandparents getting used to buy hoppers from a trade stall near her grand father's fruit stall and when she was crossing the road after buying hoppers when she met with an accident it has been revealed.

The high speed van run over the girl after attemtping to overtake another ve hicle it haa been reported

The driver of the van who is responsible for the girl"s death  was arrested by the Police and the van was also taken in to custody.

A Municipal Council Worker Has Died After Drowning In Minneriya Wewa

A person has died after drowning in Minneriya Wewa in Polonnaruwa last  afternoon(06) while bathing with his friends .

Image result for drowningThe deceased had been identified as a 50 year old Municipal Council Worker resided in Kadawatha area.Two friends of the deceased who were drowned at the same time had been rescued and the body of the deceased was recovered by fishermen it has been revealed.

Kilinochchi Police Recovered A Stock Of Explosives Belonging To The LTTE Inside A Well

Image result for ammunitions of ltte recoveredKilinochchi Police have recovered a stock of unexploded explosives including two claymo bombs  belonging to the LTTE Terrorist group inside a well located in a forest area of Pachchilipalai area at Malayalpuram,Kilinochchi it has been reported.

Among the stock of Explosives recovered  in a well are two 14 inch long  Claymo Bombs ,14 ,81 mili meter Mortar ammunition's,one 60 mili meter Mortar Ammunition  ,05 R.P.G Ammunition's and a Hand Grenade  according to the Police.

Six Members Including The Leader Of Ava Sword Group Arrested In Jaffna And Colombo

Related imagePolice Officers attached to the Terrorism Investigations Division have arrested six members of the "Ava"sword group including it's leader Sathyawelnadan Nishanthan alias Nisha Victor , who are responsible for several stabbings and killings in Jaffna recently at Mattakuliya and Jaffna areas today(07).

Accordingly Three of the "Ava" Group members have been arrested  in Pettah Bus Stand,Two suspects were arrested in Jaffna and another suspect was arrested at Mattakkuliya the Police Media Department has announced.Along with the suspects two swords and a Motorcycle in possession of them have also taken in to custody by the Police.

These suspects were arrested after the investigations conducted under the instructions of Inspector General Of Police Pujitha Jayasundare.

Airport Customs Officers Have Arrested A Pakistani National With 376 Grammes Of Heroin

Related imageAirport Customs officers have yesterday(06) arrested a 54 year old Pakistani National with 376 grammes of Heroin in his possession at Katunayake ,Bandaranaike International Airport.

The suspected Pakistani National had arrived in Katunayake Airport from Bangkok ,Thailand last night by concealed the haul of Heroin inside his luggage according to the Customs.The value of the haul of Heroin taken in to custody in possession of the suspect is around Rs.3.7 million it has been revealed.

A Chinese National Was Arrested While Staying In Colpetty Without Valid Visas

Image result for arrestedColpetty Police have last night(06) arrested a Chinese National who has stayed  in Sri Lanka illegally without valid visas in Colpetty area .

Police have also taken into custody around 2200 grammes of herb Kothala Himbutu(Salacia reticulata)and  20 liters of illicit Liquor in possession of the suspected Chinese national.

He is due to be produced before the Colombo Fort Magistrate Court .
