Southern Provincial Councilor Arrested Over Criticizing IGP And The Police

Southern Provincial Councilor of the governing United People's Freedom Alliance(UPFA) Nishantha Muthuhettigama who is charged with making Death Threats towards UPFA Candidate for the forthcoming Southern Provincial Council Elections Actress Anarkali Akarsha got arrested today for the second time.He is arrested due to the his recent alleged comments on the Inspector General Of Police(IGP) and the Police according to the DIG and the Police Spokesman Nimal Madiwaka.

Councilor Muthuhettigama who was arrested in the previous occasion on a complaint made by the Actress Anarkali saying that he made Death Threats against her was later released on Bail.However after wards he criticized the IGP and the Police over his arrest.IGP also appointed a Special Police Committee to investigate into the Comments made by the Councilor regarding the Police.

Catholic Arch Bishop Called EU To Grant GSP Plus To Sri Lanka

The Catholic Arch Bishop of Colombo the Rev.Dr.Malcolm Ranjith today appealed to the European Union to continue granting the GSP Plus facility to Sri Lanka and assisting the Country to achieve true Peace and Justice.

In a Statement released to the Media Rev.Dr. Ranjith said through Religious Principles Sri Lanka can heal their wounds of the past few years without been pushed into it by the External Forces.

Meanwhile President Mahinda Rajapaksha paid a Courtasy visit to the Arch Bishop Rev.Malcolm Ranjith this evening at the Colombo Bishops House.

Three Member Foreign Medical Team To Investigate On Sri Lankan Dengue Epidemic

A three member Foreign Medical Team headed by the Former Chief of the Epidemiology Unit Of The World Health Organization(WHO) Arrived Sri Lanka last Saturday to find the Causes for the Increased Number of Dengue Deaths in Sri Lanka within this year and the reasons for the Dengue Epidemic.

The team is headed by the Professor Siri Penn and also included a Specialist Doctor and a Nursing Consultant.The Team is due to hold Seminars in Colombo,Kandy and Galle to identify the causes for the Dengue Deaths and the Epidemic.During the Seminars these Medical Experts are due to exchange ideas with the local Medical Consultants and the Nursing Consultant is due to train local Nurses on handling of the Dengue Patients.The First Seminar of the Series is due to held in Colombo tomorrow.

Revised Cuban Dengue Report To Submit To The Cabinet

Health Minister Nimal Siripala De Silva is due to Submit the Revised Report of using Cuban Method to Combat Dengue Menace in Sri Lanka to the Cabinet on this Wednesday Health Ministry Sources said.The Report submitted to the Ministry by the two visiting Cuban Epidemiologists revised to suit Sri Lankan System using the recommendations made by Sri Lankan Experts.

This Report is Revised with the help of the Two Cuban Epidemiologists Dr.Arian Martinez,Dr.Yellina Chang Camero,The Epidemiologists of the Epidemiology Unit,The Dengue Control Programme and the Panel of Sri Lankan Professors and Experts.With this Report the Estimated Cost to Implement this Report too due to submit before the Cabinet.
