A Navy Soldier Was Arrested With Three Fake Currency Notes

Madawachchiya Police have arrested a 28 year old Navy Soldier with three fake Sri Lankan currency notes including a Rs.5000 note and two Rs.1000 notes in his possession at a Electric Equipment shop at punawa in Madawachchiya area.

The soldier was arrested by the Police while attempting to putchase an Electric Equipment through the fake currency notes, as per informed by the shop owner.

The suspect is due to be produced before the Madawachchiya Magistrate Court.

A Large Acres Of Land In Kurundupitiya Reserve Have Been Destroyed Due To A Fire

A large acres of land belongs to the Kurundupitiya reserve in Vavuniya have been destroyed due to a sudden fire erupted in the reserve since this noon(14) according to the police.

The fire which spreaded rapidly due to the strong winds and dry weather prevailing in the area had doused by the Fire brigade officials attached to the Vavuniya Urban Council by using water bowsars.

Irattaperiyakulam Police are being investigated to find out the persons who are responsible  to the incident.

Two Persons Have Been Injured Due To A Three Wheeler-Bus Collision

Two persons have been injured and hospitalized after the Three Wheeler they were travelling in colliding with a Private Bus at Kandakolawatte area in Norwood this afternoon(14).

The injured including the Three Wheeler driver have been admitted to the Dikoya Base Hospital for treatment.

The incident occurred when the Three Wheeler travelling from Hatton to Norwood had collided with a Private Bus travelling from Maskeliya to Hatton area.

A Person Had Drowned In Korakahagolla Wewa(River)

A 54 year old person had drowned in Korakahagolla Wewa (River) at Galewela area last evening(13) while plucking Lotus flowers  for a Reliegious event it has been reported.

The body of the deceased who was a resident of Kospotha in Galewela area have been recovered by the residents of the area and Police after a long rescue operation .

President is due to visit Georgia after the Summit it has been revealed.

All Ceylon Bakery Owners Association To Increase The Price Of Bakery Products Except Bread

The All Ceylon Bakery Owners Association has decided to increase the prices of all Bakery Products including Short Eats with effect from midnight tomorrow(15).

However the Price of a loaf of Bread will not be increased the Association has stated.The reason behind the price Increase of Bakery products not yet been revealed.

The Association had recently reduced the price of a Cup of Plain Tea and Milk Tea by Rs.5 as a result of the price reduction of a Gas Cylinder.

A Father And Son Were Killed Due To A Road Accident

A father and son were killed and Mother was injured and hospitalized after the Motorcycle they were travelling in colliding with a lamp post at Seppukulama Junction in Anuradhapura this evening(14).

The three of the critically injured  have been admitted to the Mihintale Hospital where the 41 year old father and his 08 year old son had succumbed to their injuries and the Mother was later transferred to the Anuradhapura General Hospital.

The deceased were residents of Horowpathana area and they had met with  the accident while on their way to Mihintale it has been revealed.
