One Person Was Injured And Hospitalized Due To A Fire Occurred At A Trade Complex In Godakawela
One person was injured and hospitalized due to a
sudden fire occurred in the trade complex at Godakawela (Rathnapura)during wee hours of today (14) it has been reported.
Police along with the help of residents in the area doused the fire before it spreads further.However Trade stalls in the complex damaged due to the fire.
The cause of the fire not yet been revealed and the value of the damage done to the trade complex not yet been estimated.

Police have arrested two persons with 70,000 sticks of
illegally imported Cigarettes in their possession at Panampitiya in Dambulla (Central Province).
Police have arrested the 21 and 31 year old suspects who are residents of Aranayake area ,while they were transporting the illegal cigarette sticks from a van .
The suspects are due to be produced before the Dambulla Magistrate Court today (14).

in foreign country in his possession at Mahakumdukkadawala area in Puttalam (North Western Province).
The suspect had kept the firearms to hunt animals according to the Police.

Around 2361 hectares of land belonging to forest
reserves in up country had been destroyed during last few weeks it has been reported.
Out of this number majority which is 470 hectares belonging to forest reserves in Badulla District had been destroyed due to fire the reports have stated.
Most of the fires burnt these forest reserves were man made ones investigations have revealed.

Water levels of the main reservoirs in central hills are
decreasing rapidly it has been revealed.
Accordingly water levels of Castlereigh and Maussakale reservoirs which supplying water to new laxapana ,wimalasurendra and polpitiya water reserves have decreased below 40%.
The dry weather condition prevailing in central hills at present has caused this situation.

A Tipper Truck Driver Was Killed Due To An Accident Occurred In Mannar
A 66 year old Tipper Truck Driver was killed when his
vehicle veered off the road and crashed into a tree in paryanakulam at Mannar (Northern Province) today (13).
The deceased has been identified as a resident of Murukkan in Mannar.
The accident occurred as the driver was unable to control the high speed of the vehicle Police have stated.

An Elephant Who Had Gone On Rampage Last Night In Matara Damaged Vehicles And Properties
Several vehicles,electric poles and telephone poles in
Gandara,Matara (Southern Province)had damaged after an Elephant participating Annual Duruthu (Name given to month of January by the Sinhalese Calander) procession (Perahara) of Wijeyaratnarama Temple in Matara had gone on Rampage last night (12).
Accordingly the Elephant who had gone on rampage after being provoked due to the flash lights ,had attacked and damaged four three wheelers,a car,four electricity poles and three telephone poles in Gandara area .
Meanwhile several persons in the crowd got injured due to a panic occurred as a result of the elephant going on rampage it has been reported.
Later Several mahouts,wild life officials and police officers have managed to control the Elephant after giving him anesthesia it has been reported.

A 44 Year Old Person Died After Drowning In Rassa Ella
A 44 year old person has died yesterday (12) after
drowning in Rassa (Falls)Ella at Waththegama area (Central Province)while bathing it has been reported.
Residents of tbe area have saved him after seing him drowning.However he died after admitting to the Waththegama Hospital the Police have stated.
The deceased has been identified as a resident in Kengalle area.
