The suspect who was arrested had allegedly raped and murdered a 13 year old Girl at Vavuniya District (In Northern Province) has been remanded until 14th of March by Vavuniya Magistrate M.Manaf yesterday(26).The 35 year old suspect who was a resident of Vavuniya was arrested by Police regarding the rape and murder of a 13 year old girl who lived near the suspect's house on 16th of February .He was remanded after being produced before Vavuniya Magistrate Court yesterday.
The Vavuniya Magistrate has also ordered the authorities to produce the suspect for a DNA Test.
A Group of Residents in Vavuniya have recently staged a "Harthal" Campaign demanding the authorities to take a stern action against rapists.
