Drama At The Independent Drug Regulatory Authority As Two Officers Functioning As Chief Executive Officer

The Independent Drug Regulatory Authority  today(25) had two Officers to function as Chief Executive Officer(CEO)as Professor krishantha Weerasuriya who is holding the post and faced heavy criticisms from   Health Minister Dr.Rajitha Senaratne has returned to his office at the Authority after being abroad for two weeks while Dr.Kamal Jayasinghe who was appointed as acting CEO by the Health Minister in   absence of Professor Weerasuriya too was there.

Minister Of Health Dr.Rajitha Senaratne has last week advised the Health Authorities to take  disciplinary action against Professor Krishsantha Weerasuriya for going  abroad without getting proper approval from the Health Ministry.

However it has been reported that the aides of Professor Weerasuriya at the Independent Drug Regulatory Authority have stated that Proffesor himself received the approval from Ministry of Health to go abroad.

Although Professor Weerasuriya returned to the island after being abroad and reported to work at his office still there are no reports regarding Health Ministry's decision to take a disciplinary action against him .

For the Record - Professor Weerasuriya resigned from the post as he was a retired WHO Staff Member who did not agree with the rules of unqualified politicians.

He was immediately offered a post in an International NGO in Medicines in Geneva - Drugs for Neglected Diseases Initiative, which he accepted.
