A Police Sergent attached to the Matale Police was killed and a Police Constable attached to the same Police was injured and hospitalized after colliding with a Motor Car near Nildiyauyana in Palapathwala last night (19) while engaged in Police mobile petrol service.The injured Police Constable was admitted to the Matale Base Hospital for treatment.
The accident occurred when a high speed Motor Car run over the two Police officers who had stayed at the road .The Motor car was stopped after colliding with a lamp post nearby it has been reported.All four persons in the car at the time were escape unharmed according to reports.However the Car had severely damaged due to the incident.
The deceased Police Constable was identified as a resident in Dambulla area.
Matale Police have arrested the Driver regarding the accident . The driver has stated the Police that the accident occurred as he had fallen to sleep while driving .
