Eleven Persons Were Injured And Hospitalized Due To A Bus-Lorry Collision At Kahawatte

Image result for accident graphicEleven Persons were injured and hospitalized due to a Bus-Lorry collision occurred at Kahawatte(In Ratnapura District) on Ratnapura-Palmadulla Main Road yesterday(02).

The injured were admitted to the Ratnapura General Hospital and the condition of two of the injured are critical according to sources.

The Kahawatte Police have arrested the drivers of both Bus and the Lorry which involved in the accident .

Prices Of Fuel In Sri Lanka Will Never Goes Down Even Through A Price Mechanism-Minister Weerakkody

The  Prices of Fuel in Sri Lanka will never goes down even if a  new price mechanism is introduced   the Minister Of Petroleum Resources Development  Chandima Werakkody has said.

However the new price mechanism prepared to control the prices of Fuel in local market  has already submitted to the Cabinet for approval the Minister has stated.

Government is planning to recover the loss occurred  through selling fuel in the local market during  recent years  he has further said.

Following the Earthquake which strucked at South West of the Indonesian City Padang,Indonesian Authorities have issued Tsunami Warning  to the regions of North Sumathra,West Sumathra and Aceh while Australia had issued Tsunami Warning to Cocos and Christmas Islands in the Pacific.

Cabinet Has Approved A Proposal On Constructing Two New Elevated Highways In Colombo

The Cabinet has yesterday(02) approved a proposal on constructing two new elevated highways connecting Kelaniya to Colombo Port and Kelaniya to Rajagiriya in view of reducing the traffic congestion in City of Colombo according to the Ministry Of Higher Education and Highways.

These constructions will be funded by Japanese Government and Asian Development Bank the Ministry has said.

Under the proposal one elevated highway with a distance of 5.8 Kilo Meters will be constructed from Kelaniya Bridge to Colombo Port Entrance and  the second elevated highway with a distance of 6.9 Kilo Meters and consisting of 4 lanes will be constructed from Kelaniya Bridge to Rajagiriya while it will connect to Battaramulla,Malabe,Athurugiriya and the outer circular expressway.

Navy Have Detained Two Suspects With 2.7 Kilo Grammes Of Kerala Cannabis In Mannar

The Navy have today(02) detained  two persons in Elluththur ,Mannar(In Northern Province) while transporting 2.7 Kilo Grammes Of Kerala Cannabis .

A team attached to  Gajaba Unit of North Central Naval Command had arrested the two suspects with haul of Kerala Cannabis .The suspects were later handed over to the Mannar Police for further investigations.

The Colombo Additional Magistrate has today (02) remanded Shyamali Priyadarshani Perera the wife of  imprisoned Former Senior Deputy Inspector General Of Police(DIG) Vaas Gunawardena until 16th of March after she was arrested and produced before court .

The Former DIG's wife has been remanded for Illegal Possession and transporting of Fire Arms.Her husband the former DIG Vaas Gunawardena and their son had been sentenced to death recently over a killing of  Colombo based Businessman.

An Underworld Figure Inside The Prison Bus Was Injured And Hospitalized Following A Gun Fire Shooting In Colombo

An underworld figure "Dematagoda Chaminda" had been injured and hospitalized this evening following a Gunfire Shooting at   Prison Bus which carried several prisoners including the above mentioned. 

The injured "Dematagoda Chaminda" and several other prisoners were taken to Welikada Prison from the Court when an unidentified Gunman opened fire at the Prison Bus according to the Police.

The injured was admitted to Colombo National Hospital for treatment."Dematagoda Chaminda" is known as one of the  accused in assassination   of former Presidential Adviser Bharatha Lakshman Premachandra who was the father of MP Hirunika Premachandre,

Welikada Police Have Arrested A Person With A Haul Of Rs.500,000 Worth Heroin

Welikada Police have arrested a person with a haul of Rs.500,000 worth Heroin in possession at Moragasmulla (In Western Province) Area this noon according to the Police.

The suspect who is a resident of Grandpass(In Colombo) Area was arrested while distributing Heroin the Welikada Police have revealed.

Police are now questioning the suspect regarding distributing Heroin in Colombo and he is due to be produced before Court this evening.

Suicides amongst Sri Lankan Females who becomes victims of   Domestic Violence are on  increase according to the VOG Of Kandy Teaching Hospital Dr.Sardha Hemapriya.

In the year 2010,34 Female Suicides and two female assassinations had been reported from the Island and all of them were occurred as a result  of Domestic Violence Dr.Hemapriya has stressed.

Media should act with more responsibility when reporting incidents related to Domestic Violence in order to reduce suicides amongst Domestic Violence Victims he has further said.

Anuradhapura Special Magistrate Court Sentenced 20 Years Vigorous Imprisonment For A Man Who Sexually Abused A School Girl

Anuradhapura(In North Central Province) Special High Court has today(01) sentenced 20 years vigorous imprisonment for a man who found responsible for  sexually abusing  an underage school girl in 2004.

As the accused has fled away by evading the Court , the Anuradhapura Special Magistrate Khema Swarnadipathi has ordered the Police to arrest him and produce before the Court besides the vigorous prison sentence imposed on him.

The Attorney General has filed charges before Anuradhapaura Magistrate Court  against the accused who found responsible for sexually abusing an underage school girl in 2004.

The Special Commodity Levy Imposed on imported Potatoes and Big Anions have been increased Rs.35 Per Kilo Gramme and Rs.25 Per Kilo Gramme respectively with effect from Midnight yesterday(29) according to Ministry Of Finance.

President Maithripala Sirisena has yesterday(29) instructed the Finance Ministry Officials to increase the Special Commodity Levy imposed on Potatoes and Big Anions in view of protecting local potato and big anion farmers after a special discussion held at Presidential Secretariat to discuss the issues faced by farmers.
