Around 2240 Sri Lankans Have Been Selected For This Year's Haj Pilgrimage

Image result for haj pilgrimAround 2240 Sri Lankan Muslims have been selected to participate this year's  Haj Pligrimage due to take place in Mecca,Saudi Arabia according to reports.

Accordingly the first batch of Sri Lanka's Haj Pilgrims comprising of 62 had already arrived in Jeddah,Saudi Arabia .

Due to the development activities carried out in Mecca  these days the pilgrims selected for this year's Haj Pilgrimage had been reduced according to sources.

A Youth Had Drowned In The Sea At Wennappuwa

Image result for drowningA youth who has arrived in Wennappuwa area along with his friends from Kandy had drowned in the sea on Sunday evening during a sea bath according to the Wennappuwa police.

The drowned youth who is attached to a private company in Kandy arrived in Wennapuwa along with 30 office friends for the a annual trip of the company it has been reported.

The fishermen in Wennappuwa  have launched a search operation to find the body of the drowned youth.

Wennappuwa Police are conducting an investigation on the incident.

Former Supreme Court Judge Justice Sarath De Abrew Has Died Following A Domestic Accident

Image result for sarath de abrewThe former supreme court judge Justice Sarath De Abrew who was released on bail over a charge of a sexual assault against his domestic aide has died this morning following an accident at his residence.

The former supreme court judge had been detained over the assault against the domestic aide which occurred around 26th of June in 2015 and later released on bail on 07th of July 2015 by the Mount Lavinia Magistrate Court .

The Colombo High Court too granted bail to the deceased former supreme court judge over the charges on January this year.



A Resident In Kilai Area In Jaffna Died Due To A Landmine Explosion

Image result for explosion clip artA male resident in Kilai area at Jaffna District (In Northern Province)has been reported as died due to a landmine explosion occurred at a forest area where the demining process not yet concluded according to the Police.

The deceased who had gone to the forest on last friday(12) to collect firewood has caught the landmine explosion the police have stated.

The body of the resident of Kilai area has been recovered through a police investigation launched following the complaint made by his family stating that  he was missing since 12th of August.
