No Sri Lankans In Thailand Affected Due To The Bomb Blasts -Foreign Affairs Ministry

Rescuers and medical officers push an injured person on a gurney at the site of a bomb blast in Hua Hin, south of Bangkok, Thailand,The Ministry Of Foreign Affairs has announced that  no Sri Lankans lives in Thailand have been affected due to the eight bomb blasts that hit at five tourist cities and towns in the country since last night.

Around  four persons  were killed and and many  were injured due to the series of  Bomb Blasts which occurred   in Thailand it has been reported.

The Blasts occurred at five Thai cities and  towns which are popular among tourists namely Hua Hin,Surat Thani,Trang,Patong and Phang Nga.

Imprisoned Former Eastern Province Chief Minister Pillayan Was Further Remanded

Image result for pillayanThe former chief minister of the Eastern Province shivanasathurai chandrakanthan allias Pillayan Who is in remand in connection with the murder case of  former MP Joseph Pararajasingham was further remanded until 24th of August by the Batticalloa Magistrate Court.

Pillayan was further remanded when he was produced before the Batticalloa Magistrate court yesterday(10).

He was detained by the Colombo Crimes Division on 09th of October last year.

CID Was Given Permission To Investigate Bank Accounts Of Intelligence Officers

The Mount Lavinia Magistrate Court has today (11) given permission to the  criminal investigations department (CID) to investigate the bank accounts of 63 intelligence officials regarding the murder of former Sunday Leader Newspaper editor Lasantha Wikramathunge.

The permission was given when the case on Lasanths Wikramathunge's murder taken up for hearing today (11).

The CID is expecting to get statements from officials attached to 32 financial institutions to find out the bank account details it has been reported.

Meanwhile the Mount Lavinia Magistrate has ordered to further remand the Army Intelligence officer who had been detained and remanded over the killing  of Former Sunday Leader editor  .


He is due to be produced before the  identification parade on the same day.

Srilal Gomes's Profile PhotoVeteran Photo Journalist and former Photography Editor attached to Divaina/Island Newspapers Srilal Gomas has passed away this morning at the Colombo National Hospital after long battle with cancer.

He entered the media industry in 1979 as a Junior Photographer of the "Isuru"monthly magazine launched by Mahaweli Ministry and also served as a media secretary to several ministers.

The late Photo Journalist Srilal Gomas's funeral is due to take place this Saturday at Sapugaskande Roman Catholic Cemetery .

We have worked with him for several years and have a good memories on him."May his soul rest in peace".
