Haj Festival To Be Celebrated On 24th Of September

The Muslim Community in sri lanka will be celebrated their religious Haj Festival on 24th of September the Colombo Grand Mosque has announced.

The Haj Festival known as "Eid Al Adah" or " Feast Of Sacrifice " is one of the two most important Islamic celebrations and other one is "Eid Al Fitr" or Ramadan.

UN Report On Alleged War Crimes Against Sri Lanka Will Be Released On This Wednesday=UN High Commissioner For Refugees

The United Nations High Commissioner For Refugees Zeid Raad  Al Hussein has said today(14) during his Opening Speech at the inauguration of 30th United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva ,Switzerland, UN Report and Recommendations on alleged war crimes that said to be occurred in the Country during the last phase of war against LTTE will be released on this Wednesday(16).

A serious violations and loss of   Human Life have been reported during  final phase of the war in Sri Lanka  UN High Commissioner For Refugees Al Hussein has stressed.

Police Have Questioned The Father And Grand Father Of the Murdered Girl Over The Incident

The Police have today (14)questioned the father and grand father of the five year old girl who had been strangled to death at Divulapitiya over the incident.The killing of the child has  shocked the people all over  country and many wants to bringing back the  capital punishment and  punished the culprits severely.

The Kotadeniyawa Police have deployed few police teams to arrest those who are responsible for the death of five year old seya sadewmini bakmeedeniya who was the youngest of three children in her family.

Meanwhile the father of the murdered girl child was known as a suspect of a  child molestation case while he was served as an English teacher in a government school

It has been also  reported the sneaking dog deployed by the police to catch the killers have been walked 100 meter distance from home and return  back 100 meters towards the house again.

Post Mortem Of The Five Year Old Girl- JMO Gave The Verdict As She Had Been Sexually Molested And Strangled To Death

The Five year old girl who found dead inside  a canal near her residence at Kotadeniyawa in Divulapitiya(In Western Province) yesterday(13) had been  sexually molested and strangled to death according to the verdict given by Judical Medical Officer(JMO) of  Negambo District Hospital today(14) at the Post Mortm held regarding the death.

The five year old Seya Sadewmi's dead body was found inside a canal near her residence yesterday by the Police.

 The Girl was reported as missing from her house since Saturday Morning and the Kotadeniyawa Police have receieved a complaint regarding the incident from her parents.During the special search operation carried out to find the missing girl police with the help of residents in the area have managed to found the body of the girl inside a canal near her house yesterday.

Prime Minister Ranil Wikramasinghe To Leave India Today For A Three Day Visit

Prime Minister Ranil Wikramasinghe will leave India today(14) for a three day official visit first since he assumed his duties as the Prime Minister of Sri Lanka.

During his visit Prime Minister Wikramasinghe will be hold bi lateral  talks with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi,President Pranab Mukarjee and Minister of External Affairs Sushma Swaraj.

Police Are Conducting A Special Investigation On The Mysterious Death Of A Five Year Old Girl

The Police Are  conducting special investigation on the mysterious death of a five year old girl whose body was found at a canal situated near her house at Divulapitiya(In Western Province) today(13).

A special search operation was launched by the Kotadeniyawa Police after they have received a complaint that the deceased girl had gone missing from her house since Saturday Morning.

The girl who was sleeping with her grand mother went missing since Saturday morning according to the complaint made by her parents to the police.

The Motorists will be able to reach Matara(In Southern Province) to Kaduwela(In Colombo) in one and half hours after the outer circular highway from Kaduwela to Kadawatha open on 17th of September.

The 8.9 Kilo Meter outer circular highway is scheduled to be inaugurated by Minister Of University Education And Highways Lakshman Kiriella  and it will be connected to Southern Expressway,Katunayake Expressway ,Colombo-Kandy Expressway and Colombo-Northern Expressway,

The construction work of the Kaduwela-Kadawatha outer circular highway began on 2012 with the cost of Rs.44 billion.The four lane expressway is having six toll plazas and three toll office buildings.It comprises 250 meter long six lane bridge built over Kelaniya River and five overpass bridges .

Air Port Custom Officers Arrested A Sri Lankan With Six Pieces Of Gold Hidden Inside His Rectum

The Air Port Custom Officers have yesterday (13) arrested a Sri Lankan at the Katunayake Bandaranaike International Air Port who attempted to smuggle six pieces of gold worth around Rs.3 million to the country.

The 51 year old  suspect who returned from Chennai ,India was concealed six pieces of gold weighing 600 grammes inside his rectum according to the custom officers.

Government Has Decided To Remove Leadership Training Course From The Universities -Minister Kiriella

The new government has decided to remove the Leadership Training Course implemented for University Students by the previous government according to Minister Of University Education And Highways Lakshman Kiriella.

The period allocated for leadership training will be used to teach international languages for  the university students the Minister has said.

The leadership training for University Students prior to the commencement of their Degree Programme has been introduced to the University System by former Minister of Higher Education S.B Dissanayake who is also a Minister in this government.However due to the hectic schedule of that training most university students have complained on that to the authorities it has been reported.

UN Inquiry Report On Alleged War Crimes Against Sri Lanka Has Been Handed Over To The Government

The United Nations Inquiry Report on alleged war crimes said to be occurred during the final phase of war against LTTE Terrorist Group has been handed over to Sri Lankan Government last night according to the foreign ministry.

The Sri Lankan government has received five days to response on the report in writing the Ministry has stated.The said UN Inquiry Report on Sri Lanka is due to be released to the public during the 30th session of the United Nations Human Rights Council scheduled to be inaugurated this Monday(15) in Geneva Switzerland.

The report and the Sri Lanka's response of it will be submitted to the Human Rights Council sessions at the end of this month it has been reported.The handing over of the UN inquiry Report on Sri Lanka to the local government prior to it's submission to human rights council sessions has done as a gesture of goodwill towards the government of President Maithripala Sirisene foreign ministry has said.

Meanwhile Foreign Minister Mangala Samaraweere and Health Minister Dr.Rajitha Seneviratne  are due to be attended the UN Human Rights Council Sessions representing Sri 
Lankan Government.

A Woman Was Shot Dead By An Unidentified Gunmen At Jampatah Street

A Woman was shot dead this evening by two unidentified gunmen at Jampatah Street in Kotahena(Colombo Suburbs) according to Police.The Two Gunmen came from a motor bike have shot the woman Police have said.

The reason for the shooting or the suspects still not yet identified .However the Police have revealed that the husband of the deceased woman is currently in police custody over a murder case.

Around 1400 Liters Of Oil Released To The Kelaniya River Had Polluted It's Water-Environmentalists

A Section Of The Kelaniya River

Around 1400 liters of oil has been released by the Coca Cola Plant  few weeks ago to the Kelaniya River which supplying drinking water to Colombo and it's suburbs According to the  Local Environmentalists.

As a result the water in kelaniya river has been polluted and the Central Environment Authority even cancelled the Environment Protection License issued to the Coca Cola Plant here.As oil can  remain in water for longer period it may cause non infectious diseases like Cancers amongst   people the Environmentalists have warned.

Meanwhile  few days after the cancellation of Environment Protection Licence of Coca Cola Plant here the  Central Environmental Authority had reported as releasing the licence again to the plant under several conditions which were still not yet revealed.

Water Board Assured The Drinking Water Supplying To Colombo And Suburbs Is Safe-Environmental Groups Claimed Arsenic Level In Supplying Water Exceeded It's Normal Level

Although an Environmental Groups have claimed that the Arsenic Level of  Kelaniya River which supplying the drinking water to consumers in Colombo and it's suburbs has exceeded the normal level ,The National Water Supply And Drainage Board has today(11)  announced  the drinking water supplying to Colombo and it's suburbs is not contaminated with Arsenic or any other toxic chemical .

The drinking water supplying to Colombo is safe the Water Board has assured.However Jayantha Kariyawasam of an environmental group has told the media yesterday(10) the Arsenic Level in Kelaniya River has exceeded it's normal level and the highest arsenic level has been reported from the water samples taken near the Ambathale Water Purification Reserve .

The toxic chemicals released as by products by the factories situated around kelaniya river had been identified as the main cause for this situation Mr.Kariyawasam has said.
