Several villages belonging to Welikanda area in Polonnaruwa District of the dry zone had received heavy showers with Ice Rain this evening (09?) ending the six month old drought prevailed in there.Sinhapura ,Magul Pokuna and several other villages in an around Welikanda area had recived heavy showers with Ice it has been revealed.
Due to the drought residents of these villages had faced a shortage of drinking water and problems related to farming .
