Sri Lankan Test Cricket Captain Dimuth
Karunaratne who had appeared before Colombo Magistrate Court this morning (01)over an accident committed by him under the influence of liquor ,had been released on two surety bails by the Colombo Additional Magistrate Saliya Channa Abeyratne .
Accordingly the Cricketer had been released on two surety bails of Rs.100,000 each by the Additional Magistrate .His driving licence too had been suspended and the additional magistrate has ordered the authorities to send him to National Transport Medical Institute in Colombo to obtain a medical report .
Suspected Cricketer Karunaratne who had driven his vehicle under the influence of liquor and crashed in to a Three Wheeler at Horton Place Junction in Kynsey Road ,Borella last morning (31) had been released on police bail last evening after being arrested by the Borella Police .
The Three wheeler driver who had been injured due to the incident was admitted to Colombo National Hospital with minor injuries and discharged from the Hospital later .
Dimuth Karunaratne's lawyer had stated in.the court that his client has agreed to purchase a new Three Wheeler to the Three wheeler driver who had been injured due to the incident .
Karunaratne had also apologized over the incident through a statement posted in his Twitter account today (01)
Meanwhile the Lawyer appeared behalf of the victim has told in Court that his client is ready to reach a settlement with the cricketer over the case if the respondent had payed for the damages .
The court case is due to take up for hearing again on 02 nd of May .
