Officers attached to Criminal
Investigations Department (CID) have yesterday (01)arrested the Assistant Superintendent Of Police (ASP) in Mannar Upul Alawatta over abducting and disappearance of a person whilst in custody of Piliyandala police on 31 st of December 2008 .
The suspected ASP Alawatta who was the acting OIC Of the Piliyandala Police at the time of the incident had been areested after questioning him over the imcident at CID Headquarters in Colombo.The suspect had appeared before CID to give the statement .
ASP Alawatta was charged over abduction and disappearance of Ajith Sunanda Kandamby a Cwremic corporation employee who was arrested by Piliyandala Police over a complaint made by Ceremic Corporation chairman .
