The World Health Organization (WHO) has today (30) officially awarded the Malaria elimination certificatte to Sri Lanka at a function held at Hotel Kingsbury in Colombo.
With this Sri Lanka becomes the second country in the South East Asia Region received the Malaria Elimination Certificatte after Maldives.
The WHO's Regional Director General for South East Asia Dr.Poonam Khetrapal Singh had officially presented the Malaria elimination certificatte to Sri Lanka's Health Minister Dr.Rajitha Senaratne at the occassion.
WHO has named Sri Lanka as a country eliminated Malaria during the recently concluded South East Asian Health Ministers Conference held in Colombo .
Speeking at the occassion WHO's South East Asian Director General Dr.Poonam Khetrapal Singh has praised Sri Lanka for eliminating Malaria and for it's excellent health care services provided to public.
