The Ministry Of Transport and Civil Aviation has decided to temporary cancel the leave of Bus Drivers,Conductors and Technical Staff attached to the Sri Lanka Transport Board(SLTB) Buses with effect from tomorrow(01) for a one week period as several Private Bus Operators and Railway Unions have announced an island wide strike action from tomorrow(01) on wards.
According to the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation Nimal Siripala De Silva extra buses and train services will be deployed from tomorrow to avoid any inconvenience for passengers due to the strike action .
Under this plan the number of SLTB Buses operated at present have been increased from 5300 to 6000.The decision to deploy extra buses and train services has been taken in convenience of the applicants sitting for this years G.C.E O/Level Examination which begins on 06th of December.
