Following complaints received regarding four deaths of Heart Patients who were died after undergone a "Stent" placement surgery at Colombo National Hospital on Monday(28) a three member Investigation Group inquiring on these deaths had recommended to temporarily suspend the using several batches of a Dye Vaccine "Non Ionic contrast media for cardio angiography for adult-100 mili liters used for the surgery according to the Ministry Of Health,Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine.Accordingly Health Ministry has today ordered hospital authorities to temporarily suspend the Dye Vaccine.
The Independent Drug Regulatory Authority is conducting an investigation on the relevant vaccine it has been reported.
Four out of six Heart Patients undergone "Stent" placement surgery last Monday at Colombo National Hospital had died after the surgery due to complications.
The Dye Vaccine which injected at the Surgery was imported from European Countries and they were issued to the North Colombo,South Colombo,Colombo National,Peradeniya,Jaffna,Kalutara ,Badulla,Kurunagala, Monaragala and Karapitiya hospitals as well it has been reported.
Due to the four cardiac deaths reported from Colombo National Hospital the three member committee appointed to inquire on the deaths has recommended to suspend the vaccine from using in these hospitals too and accordingly the Health Ministry has informed the directors of these hospitals to temporarily suspend the using of these vaccines.
