Through increasing the Cigarette Prices smoking habit can be reduced by 4-5% according to the Minister Of Health,Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine Dr.Rajitha Senaratne.Addressing a function held at Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall in Colombo the Health Minister has stated that the Health Ministry will soon introduce a plain Cigarette Pack without any picture on it in view of reducing the smoking rate further in the country.
Govenment has recently increased the price of a Cigarette by Rs.7.
Sri Lanka had adapted three methods recommended by the World Health Organization to reduce smoking rate in the country he has stressed.
