Sri Lanka Navy Officers have arrested four local fishermen while engaging in illegal fishing by using banned mono filament nets in the seas off Mundampiddi in Periyaaru (In Northern Province).Navy Officers have also taken into custody a traditional boat(Wallam) and four mono filament nets along with the local fishermen it has been reported.The arrested fishermen and fishing equipment were handed over to the Assistant Director of Fisheries in Mannar for future course of action the Navy have stated.
