The 6% bus fare increase approved by the Cabinet recently for private and sri lanka transport board (SLTB)buses has come into effect from today (01).Accordingly the minimum Rs.8 bus fare will be increased to Rs.9 and Rs.15 and Rs.16 bus fares will be increased to Rs.18 and Rs.20 respectively. .However the Rs.12 bus fare will not be increased according to the sources.
The Kandy luxury bus service fare has increased to Rs.300 from today according to the National Transport Commission.
The expressway bus fares have been increased from today as well and accordingly the Maharagama-Galle bus fare will be increased from Rs.375 to Rs.390,Maharagama to Matara bus fare will be increased from Rs.445 to Rs.470 and Kaduwela-Matara bus fare will be increased to Rs.510.
