President Maithripala Sirisena has today (16) extended the service of Army Commander Lieutenant General Chrishantha De Silva who is due to retire, for one year period with effect from 22nd of August it has been reported.Lieutenant General Chrishantha De Silva who is the 21st Army Commander in Sri Lanka had been appointed to that position by the President on February 2015.
He has also served as a commander in chief of the Volunteer Force.
