As a tribute to the great service rendered to the nation by Sinhala Song Lyricist and Poet Late Mahagamasekere ,The government has renamed the Pajet Road at Stanmore Crescent in Colombo -07 as Mahagamasekere Mawatha(Road) with effect from today(07).During the Ceremony held today regarding the renaming of Pajet Road as Mahagamasekere Mawatha,Veteran Singer Pandith W. Amaradeva has unveiled the plaque bearing the name Mahagamsekere Mawatha according to the invitation made by President Maithripala Sirisena.
The Gazette Notification regarding the opening of Mahagamasekera Mawatha has been handed over to the Mahagamasekere's son during the ceremony.
