The Ministry Of Defense has today(07) announced a General Amnesty Period from 25th of April to 05th of May for those who possessed unlicensed illegal Firearms to handover those Firearms to the Government.Government has decided to offer cash rewards for those who are willing to hand over illegal firearms in their possession during the given Amnesty Period according to Defense Ministry Secretary Karunasena Hettiarachchi.
The Amnesty Period has been announced after the recent recovery of firearms related to Criminal Activities and wave of Underworld Shooting Incidents.
