Sri Lanka Coastguard Officers Have Arrested 31 Local Fishermen While Fishing By Using Banned Fishing Nets

Sri Lankan Coastguard Officers have today(31) arrested 31 Sri Lankan Fishermen  while fishing in Sri Lankan Sea near Baththalangunduwa Island by using banned fishing nets.

Along with the local fishermen the Coastguard Officers have arrested 8 boats,a stock of fishing nets  and around 1572 Kilo Grammes of Fish according to sources.

The 31 detained local fishermen were handed over to the Kalpitiya Police for further investigations and later they have been released on police bail the sources said.

Sri Lanka Navy Have Arrested Nine Indian Fishermen Along With Their Boats When Entering Sri Lankan Territorial Waters

Sri Lanka Navy have  arrested Nine Indian Fishermen and two boats they were travelling in early this morning when they were entering Sri Lankan Territorial Waters near Analativu Island according to sources.

The arrested fishermen arrived from Pudukkottai District in Tamil Nadu the sources have said.

Earlier Sri Lankan Government has released 102 detained Indian Fishermen as a goodwill gesture.\

Four Civilians Protested Violently In Front Of Homagama Magistrate Court Have Been Remanded

Four Civilians who were alleged as protested violently in front of Homagama Magistrate Court last week over the imprisonment of Galagodaaththe Gnanasara Thero have been arrested by the Police.

The four suspects have been remanded until 09th of February by  Homagama Magistrate today (31) after they were  produced before the court.

According to the  order given by Homagama Magistrate to arrest those who were protested violently in front of the court last week including so many Buddhist Monks ,police have arrested four of the protesters.

Taxes Imposed On Imported Rice To Be Increased By Rs.15 Per Kilo Gramme With Effect From Midnight Tonight

The taxes imposed on imported rice will be increased by Rs.15 per Kilo Gramme with effect from midnight tonight according to Finance Minister Ravi Karunanayake.

Accordingly the taxes imposed on imported rice will be increased from Rs.35 to Rs.50 Per Kilo Gramme the Minister has stated.

Police Have Arrested A Stock Of More Than 20 Kilo Grammes Of Heroin And 1.1 Kilo Grammes Of Kerala Cannabis In Ambalangoda

Image result for arrestedThe police have arrested a 34 year old person with more than 20 Kilo Grammes of Heroin and 1.1 Kilo Grammes of Kerala Cannabis in his possession yesterday(30) evening at Madampagama Area in Ambalangoda(In Southern Province)according to sources.

The stock of Heroin and Kerala Cannabis had arrested during a raid carried out by Ambalangoda Police Officers.The suspect is due to be produced before Balapitiya Magistrate Court.

Ministry Of Health Has Requested The Public To Destroy Mosquito Breeding Places To Avoid Spreading Zika Virus Infection In Sri Lanka

The Ministry Of Health,Nutrition And Indigenous Medicine has requested the public to destroy mosquito breeding places including dengue mosquito breeding places to avoid spreading of "Zika Virus Infection" which spreading in South and Central American Countries these days, in Sri Lanka.

"Zika Virus Infection" is  spreading through two varieties of mosquitoes namely  "Eadis Egypty" (Dengue Mosquito) and "Eadis Vittatus"which have already been  bred in Sri Lanka .The disease  is mainly affecting pregnant mothers and through a mother infected with Zika Virus Infection, The fetus will be infected  and as a result the babies are born with brain defects the doctors have said.

This infection is already spreading in Brazil and eight other South and Central American Countries as an epidemic and United States has already advised pregnant mothers to avoid travelling those countries due to this infection.

The only solution to prevent spreading of "Zika Virus Infection" which has similar symptoms as in Dengue and Chikungunya Diseases, in Sri Lanka is to destroy mosquito breeding places and keep the environment free from mosquitoes  the local epidemiologist have said.

Wellawatta Police Have Arrested Two Persons With 10.2 Kilo Grammes Of Wallapatta In Their Possession

Wellawatta Police have today(30) arrested an Indian National and a Sri Lankan at Chappal Street near Wellawatta(In Colombo) with 10.2 Killo Grammes of Wallapatta(Agarwood) in their possession.

Police have arrested the suspects as per a tip  received by Police Officers .

The two suspects ,42 year old Indian and 32 year old Sri Lankan have been produced before the Mount Lavinia Magistrate Court this evening according to reports.

Two Persons Got Killed And Two Injured Due To A Car Crash On Eppawala-Kekirawa Main Road

car crash in sketches සඳහා පින්තුර ප්‍රතිඵලTwo persons got killed and two  injured when a Car they were in veered off the road and crashed into the tree near 15th mile post on the Eppawala-Kekirawa(In North Central Province) main road today(30).

According to the Eppawala Police all four inside the Car have been admitted to the Eppawala Hospital following the accident and  two of them including the driver had succumbed to their injuries.

Eppawala Police are conducting an investigation on the incident.

The Police Financial Crime Investigation Division has today(30) recorded statements from the second son of Former President Mahinda Rajapakshe,Yoshitha Rajapakshe  and the Media Coordinating Secretary of Former President Rohan Weliwita regarding the link with Private T.V Channel Carlton Sports Network(CSN) and alleged financial irregularities  occurred at the Channel respectively.

The statement from  Former President's second son Yoshitha Rajapakshe who is attached to Sri Lanka Navy has been recorded at Navy Headquarters in Colombo by the Financial Crime Investigation Division Officials regarding his link to the CSN Channel.

Sri Lanka Navy Have Arrested 21 Local Fishermen Who Have Illegally Fishing With Banned Nets

local fishermen සඳහා පින්තුර ප්‍රතිඵලSri Lanka Navy have arrested 21 local fishermen along with 6 Boats they were travelling in while illegally fishing in Sri Lankan Waters of Norochchalai And Udappuwa Sea Areas by using banned nets.

The Navy have also arrested Two Pairs of Diving fins ,A two hand GPS and a Diving Goggle in possession of the arrested local fishermen.

The arrested fishermen and their equipment were handed over to the Assistant Director Of Fisheries in Puttalam(In North Western Province) for an investigation on the incident.

Rs.40 Billion -Megapolis Development Plan Of Western Province Had Launched Yesterday(29)

The Rs.40 Billion worth Megapolis  Development Plan of the Western Province has been launched yesterday (29) at the Independence Square in Colombo.

This Megapolis  Development Plan which covers the entire Western Province  is due to be carried out  for a 15 year period under three phases .Under this Plan all the districts in  Western Province including Colombo,Gampaha And Kalutara will be developed as a Mega Town based on City Of Colombo .

Achieving Economic Prosperity,Ensure Environmental Conservation,Establish Social Justice and creating of a spiritual human are the four main objectives of this Megapolis Development Plan Of Western Province according to the government.

Around 150 Projects are scheduled to be implemented under ten themes to achieve these objectives .

The Government is expecting to extend this Megapolis Development Plan to other parts of the country as well in future.

Sri Lanka Cricket has appointed the South African born Cricket Coach Graham Ford as the new Coach of Sri Lankan National Cricket Team for a 45 month Period with effect from 01st of February.

The Air Port Customs Officers have yesterday(29) morning arrested a man who attempted to smuggle around 32 Kilo Grammes of expensive Wallapatta (Agarwood)out of the country at Katunayake,Bandaraniake International Air Port.

Air Port Customs Officers have arrested the 38 year old suspect  who is a resident of Badalagama Area while he attempted to board a flight to Dubai around 2.55 a.m yesterday morning with a stock of  expensive Wallapatta which are use to manufacture an expensive perfumes in his possession.

The Stock of Wallapatta carried by the suspect is worth around Rs.9.6 Million according to Customs Officers.

A Wild Elephant Has Trampled To Death A Man At Mahaoya

A Wild Elephant has trampled to death a man at Mahaoya (In Eastern Province) last night according to the Police.

A 35 year old resident of Pulawela Area in  Mahaoya had faced this incident Police have said.

The body of the deceased has been taken to the Mahaoya Hospital for an autopsy.
