Uduwe Thero Has Been Granted Permission To Travel United Kingdom

Image result for uduwe dhammalokaThe Colombo High Court has today (30)granted the permission to Venerable Uduwe Dhammaloka Thero who is charged for keeping an elephant calf in his possession without a valid permit to go abroad for one week period.

The court has granted permission to Uduwe Thero to go abroad as per the request made by him to grant permission to attend the Buddhist religious activities scheduled to be held in United Kingdom from 03rd to 07th of September.

Due to the allegation leveled against Uduwe Thero regarding keeping an elephant calf illegally , the court has earlier imposed a foreign travel ban on him.

Colombo Crimes Division To File Indictments Against Seven Indian Kidney Racketeers

Image result for kidney racketThe Colombo Crimes Division had informed the Colombo Magistrate Court today (30) that it will file indictments against the seven Indian Nationals who were arrested and remanded over the alleged illegal kidney racket operated between Sri Lanka and India.

Colombo Crimes Division(CCD) has taken the advise of Attorney General regarding filing indictments against the suspects the CCD officials have informed the court today when the case on alleged kidney racket taken into consideration.

After considering the facts revealed by CCD officials .Colombo Magistrate Court has ordered to detain the Indian Suspects until 13th of September and requested Colombo Crimes Division to file indictments against them on that day.

Navy Have Arrested Ten Local Fishermen While Engaging In Illegal Fishing in Northern Seas

Image result for local fishermanThe Sri Lanka Navy Personal have )arrested 10 Local fishermen last evening while engaging in illegal fishing  by using banned fishing nets in the seas of  Kathiraweli (Northern Province) and  Padeithurai according to the Navy Sources.

Accordingly Navy Personal have arrested 08 Local Fishermen in the seas of Kathiraweli  with  banned nets the sources have stated.

The arrested fishermen and banned fishing nets were handed over to the Vakrai  Police for future course of action.

Meanwhile Navy Personal have arrested another two Sri Lankan fishermen with a banned mono filament fishing net and a traditional boat (wallam) and handed over them and equipment to  Fisheries inspector in Mannar.

According To The WHO Survey Report 17.9% Addicted To Alcohol And 15% To Smoking In Sri Lanka

Image result for no smoking no alcoholAccording to a latest survey conducted by the World Health Organization(WHO) 17.9% of the Sri Lankan population belonging to the  age group 18-69 years is addicted to Alcohol and 15% addicted to smoking.

Speaking at the ceremony held yesterday (29) morning at Hotel Kingsbury in Colombo to launch the WHO Report on Non Communicable Diseases in Sri Lanka ,the Deputy Director General Of Health Services attached to the Health,Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine Dr.Lakshmi Somathunge has stated that the majority of the Alcohol Addicted persons among the above mentioned age group is men and accordingly 34.8 % of men addicted to Alcohol.Regarding women 0.5% addicted to Alcohol she has stressed.

Smoking is on the decrease in Sri Lankan society as a result of the tough measures taken against tobacco industry here including increasing the tax percentage on Cigarettes Dr.Somathunge has revealed.29.4% of males and 0.1% of females belonging to 18-69 age group addicted to smoking she has further added.


Colombo Chief Magistrate Put 17 Year Old School Boy Who Was Arrested Over Hacking President's Web Site On Probation

The 17 year old School Boy who was arrested yesterday(29) as a suspect for hacking President Maithripala Sirisena's offcial web site has put on probation by the Colombo Chief Magistrate and the 26 year old  youth arrested over the same offence has been remanded until 02nd of September.

The two suspects were produced before the Colombo Chief Magistrate this evening.They are due to produce before Chief Magistrate again on 02nd of September it has been reported.

Construction Work Of Rajagiriya Flyover Began Today(30)

Image result for rajagiriya flyoverThe Road Development Authority(RDA) has today(30) urged the motorists to use an alternative routes to avoid traffic at Rajagiriya area as the construction work of  Rajagiriya Flyover began today.

The construction work of the Rajagiriya Flyover is due to finish in December 2017.According to a traffic plan prepared under the Megapolis Plan ,the government has began the initial work of the flyover on 06th of June.

Two Females Were Killed Due To A Road Accident In Mawathagama

Image result for accidentTwo female were killed as a result of  colliding with a Van which veered off the road on Keppetipola-Kurunagala Road at Mawathagama Area(North Western Province) today(30) it has been reported.

The van traveling from Kurunagala to Keppetipola had veered off the road after the driver not able to control the vehicle and hit at the two females who were walking the road side the sources have stated.The deceased are identified as a residents of Barandana Area.

Police have arrested the driver of the van regarding the accident.

 

CID Has Arrested Second Suspect For Hacking President's Official Web Site

Image result for arrestedA team of officials attached to the Criminal Investigations Department(CID) have today(30) arrested a 26 year old person from Moratuwa who is the second suspect of hacking incident of president Maithripala Sirisena's official web site.

Earlier CID officers have yesterday(29) arrested a 17 year old School Boy from Kadugannawa area as a suspect for hacking president's official web site on last Thursday(25) and Friday(26).

The two suspects were arrested under the Computer Crimes Act of 2007 and if they proved guilty for the allegations will be fined Rs.300,000 and can sentenced up to three years in jail.

This is the first time that a school boy was arrested regarding a hacking of a web site in Sri Lanka the officials have stated.
