Appointment Of New Members To The Independent Commissions To Be Delayed Further
The appointment of New members to the Independent Commissions will be delayed further due to the higher number of applications received for the membership and as a result some candidates had applied for the membership of several commissions according to the Parliamentary sources.
Around 2000 applications had been received for the
membership of Independent Commissions so far and the applications will
be shortlisted as some applicants had not met the required
qualifications the sources have added ,The evaluation of the applications were earlier scheduled to be held within last week .
Fourteen Injured Due To An Accident In Nuwara Eliya
Fourteen Persons had been seriously injured and hospitalized after the Lorry they were traveling in which transported vegetables to the Nuwara Eliya economic center ,had veered off the road and fallen into a 70 feet deep precipice yesterday (05) .
The injured were admitted to the Nuwara Eliya District General hospital for treatment .The incident occurred near the Labukale Tea factory at Nuwara Eliya-Gampola main road and five of the injured are in critical condition, it has been reported .
The accident occurred due to the high speed of the lorry according to the Nuwara Eliya Police.
One Lane Of The Closed Kandy -Mahiyanganaya Road Has Been Re-opened
One lane of the blocked Kandy -Mahiyangana Main road (Central Province) which was closed due to the earth slip occurred near the 14th Hairpin bend of the 18 Hairpin bend (dahaate wanguwa) last Friday evening (03) has been re opened for traffic since last night (05) according to the Police.,
The lane had been reopened accordance to the guidelines issued by the National Building Research Organization (NBRO) .Due to the earth slip occurred on the Kandy -Mahiyangana main road soil mounds and rocks had collapsed to the road it has been reported..The removal of the soil mounds and rocks that fallen to the road had finished last night .

Two Motorcyclists Were Killed Due To Motorcycle-Van Collision
Two Motorcyclists were killed after the Motorcycle they were travelling in Colliding with a small Van at Putupagala area on Kirindiwela-Delgoda main road in Gampsha district (Western Province) yesterday(04) according to the Police.
The deceased were identified as a 42 year old male and 45 year old female resided in Radawana area .Police have arrested the Van driver regarding the incident .
