Authorities Have Covered The Meethotamulle Garbage Mountain With Mackintosh To Prevent Further Collapse

Authorities have taken steps to cover
four areas of the Meethotamulle Garbage Mountain suspected as might  collapse due to a rain   with a rubber sheet "Mackintosh" as a precautionary meassure .

Half walls also built near the Garbage Mountain to prevent further collapse of it ,it has been revealed.

Meanwhile the power supply to the area which was cut soon after the collapsing of the Meethotamulle Garbage Mountain has been restored today (23) while considering the rising levels of Methane gas in the area according to the Army.

The ten member Japanese Technical Expert team which  visited the Meethotamulle Garbage Dump last week had stated that the Methane Gas in the airspace of disaster hit area increased by 16 percent .

The Japanese Team is due to handover the report prepared by them after investigating on the Meethotamulle disaster to Prime Minister Ranil Wikramasinghe tomorrow (24) it has been reported.

The National Building Research Organization has revealed that there's no connection between the increased levels of  Methane Gas in the airspace and the Garbage Mountain collapse .

Search Operations To Findout The Missing Persons Of Meethotamulle Tragady Enters The Tenth Day

Search operations to find out those who went missing
due to the Meethotamulle Garbage Dump Collapse still continues as it enters the 10th day tomorrow (23)according to the authorities.

From 14th of April the day the Meethotamulle Garbage Dump Collapse occurred uptodate 33 dead bodies were recovered under the rubble of the disaster struck area.

Although dumping of Garbage Collected in Colombo to Meethotamulle Garbage Dump had been stalled after the collapse authorities still not able to raise their voices on  building  a Garbage Recycling center here like in most of the countries.Instead of that they are (Authorities)still trying to dump city garbage to garbage dumps in residential areas.

A Tense Situation Has Occurred After Some Displaced Families Of Meethotamulle Garbage Dump Collapse Refused To Shift To Another Place

A tense situation has occurred today (22) after a
section of the members belonging to the families displaced due to the Meethotamulle Garbage Dump collapse who are staying in Kolonnawa Terrance N De Silva Collage ,refused to shift to another place as requested by the auhorities.

As the government schools are scheduled to re-open for the new term after new year holidays ,Authorities planned to shift the displaced families staying in Terrance Silva collage to the Meethotamulle Paddy Store Complex after the renovation work of it completed by next Monday (24)it has been reported.

Around 75 temporary houses to be built in the Paddy store complex for the displaced families it has been revealed.

When the officials informed on this to the displaced familes some have strongly opposed the move by stating that the Paddy Store Complex not a safe place to live.They have also requested the officials to provide them a storied houses or permanant houses to live.
