Retired DIG Sarathchandre Was Arrested And Remanded Over Misusing A Jeep Belonging To Police Department
Retired Deputy Inspector General Of Police (DIG)K.L.N Sarathchandre who was also a coordinating secretary of the Former President Mahinda Rajapakshe has been arrested today(23) by the Police Financial Crimes Investigations Division(FCID) for misusing of a Jeep belonging to the Special Police Task Force.
The Retired former DIG has been remanded until 06th of December by the Colombo Chief Magistrate Gihan Pilapitiya this evening after been produced before the court.

A Person With 600 Illegal Cigarettes Had Been Arrested At Negambo
The Special Police Task Force officers attached to the Negambo Camp had today(23) arrested a person with around 600 illegal Cigarettes in his possession at Periyamulla area In Negambo(In Colombo).
The suspect had been handed over to the Negambo Police for further investigations the Special Police Task Force has stated.

Visharada Sanath Nandasiri Has Been Appointed As The Chancellor Of University Of Visual And Performing Arts
President Maithripala Sirisena has today(23) appointed Sangeeth Nipun ,Visharada ,Professor Sanath Nandasiri as the new Chancellor of University Of Visual and Performing Arts .
Sanath Nandasiri who is a well known singer and musical director here has been appointed for the Chancellor post of University Of Visual and Performing Arts which left vacant due to the death of Veteran Musician Pandith W.D Amaradeva.
Sanath Nandasiri has received his appointment letter from the President today at Presidential Secretariat in Colombo.

Health Ministry To Ban Selling Of A Single Cigarette Soon-Health Minister
As a measure of deterring smoking in the country further Ministry Of Health,Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine is due to ban selling of a single cigarette soon according to the Health Minister Dr.Rajitha Senaratne.
When the ban impose on selling of a single cigarette ,a person who want to purchase a cigarette need to buy a pack of Cigarettes which is now very expensive here due to heavy taxing Minister has stated.
Minister Dr.Senaratne has also stressed that he is preparing to submit a Cabinet Paper to the Cabinet regarding the introducing of a plain white cigarette pack like in Australia within next two weeks time.
Minister has revealed these facts when a delegation of Government Medical Officers Association(GMOA) had met him at the Ministry to discuss various issues in the Health Sector.During the meeting GMOA Members had submitted a set of proposals on tobacco control to Minister Dr.Senaratne.
