As a measure of deterring smoking in the country further Ministry Of Health,Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine is due to ban selling of a single cigarette soon according to the Health Minister Dr.Rajitha Senaratne.When the ban impose on selling of a single cigarette ,a person who want to purchase a cigarette need to buy a pack of Cigarettes which is now very expensive here due to heavy taxing Minister has stated.
Minister Dr.Senaratne has also stressed that he is preparing to submit a Cabinet Paper to the Cabinet regarding the introducing of a plain white cigarette pack like in Australia within next two weeks time.
Minister has revealed these facts when a delegation of Government Medical Officers Association(GMOA) had met him at the Ministry to discuss various issues in the Health Sector.During the meeting GMOA Members had submitted a set of proposals on tobacco control to Minister Dr.Senaratne.
