All Schools In The Island To Be Closed Tomorrow(20) Due To Bad Weather

All schools in the island  will be closed tomorrow(20) due to the adverse weather conditions prevailing in the country the Ministry Of Education has today(19) announced.

There are reports that the school text book provided by the government to certain schools in the island have washed away due to floods and the education ministry will take steps to redistribute those the Education Minister Akila Viraj Kariyawasam has stated .

Death Toll Due To Rain And Floods Risen To 58-Disaster Management Center

The death toll due to rain and floods has risen to 58 and around 144 reported as missing due to the landslides occurred in Central Province according to Disaster Management Center(DMC).

According to the latest report issued by DMC 420,097 persons have affected from the floods out of this number 299,806 persons have displaced.

Due to the landslide that occurred in Aranayake,in kegalle district sripura,pallebage and elangapitiya villages were affected severely DMC has stated.

President Maithripala Sirisena has visited the aranayake landslide site yesterday(19) and met the victims.He has pledged the necessary assistance for the victims.

Heavy fog and electrical outrages reported as disturbing the search operations in the landslide site.

Around 37 Died And 21 Missing Up To Now Due To The Adverse Weather Conditions Prevailing In The Island

Image result for adverse weatherAround 37 persons have died and 21 were reported as missing due to the heavy showers and floods occurred in many parts of the island during past few days according to the report issued by Disaster Management Center(DMC) this evening.

The report has stated over 352,374 persons affected and out of them 223,687 were displaced due to the floods and landslides.

Around 300 To 400 People Are Feared To Be Dead Due To Landslide Occurred In Aranayake Area-Sri Lanka Red Cross Society

Image result for sri lanka red crossAround 300 to 400 people are feared to be dead due to the landslide occurred yesterday(17) in Aranayake Area in Central Province although the death toll earlier reported is less then that number according to Sri Lanka Red cross Society.

Around 150 persons have been rescued from the landslide site at Aranayake Area the Red Cross Society has stated.

All together rescue workers have recovered 19 bodies from the landslide sites in Central Province while 350 people were rescues it has been reported.

Wilpattu National Wild Park Closed Due To Adverse Weather Conditions

Due  the adverse weather condition prevailing in the island the Wilpattu National Wild Park will be closed until 25th of May the director of Wild Life has announced today(18).

The heavy showers and flood situation prevailing in most parts of the country  affected the activities of the Wild Park as well it has been reported.

An Emergency Power Cuts Were Imposed In Several Areas Of Colombo Due To Floods

The  Lanka  Electricity Company Private Limited has imposed an emergency power cuts in several areas of Colombo  this evening as a precautionary measure due to the rising water level in Kelani River and flash floods in specific areas.

Accordingly an emergency power cuts were imposed in several areas in Kolonnawa up to now.
