There Is No Tsunami Threat To Sri Lanka Due To The Powerful Indonesian Earthquake Occurred Yesterday(02)

indonesia-earthquake-1.jpgThere is no Tsunami threat to Sri Lanka due to a 7.8 Magnitude powerful  Earthquake which  strucked off the coast of Western Indonesia last evening according to Disaster Management Center in Sri Lanka and Meteorology Department.

Following the Earthquake which strucked at South West of the Indonesian City Padang,Indonesian Authorities have issued Tsunami Warning  to the regions of North Sumathra,West Sumathra and Aceh while Australia had issued Tsunami Warning to Cocos and Christmas Islands in the Pacific.

Cabinet Has Approved A Proposal On Constructing Two New Elevated Highways In Colombo

The Cabinet has yesterday(02) approved a proposal on constructing two new elevated highways connecting Kelaniya to Colombo Port and Kelaniya to Rajagiriya in view of reducing the traffic congestion in City of Colombo according to the Ministry Of Higher Education and Highways.

These constructions will be funded by Japanese Government and Asian Development Bank the Ministry has said.

Under the proposal one elevated highway with a distance of 5.8 Kilo Meters will be constructed from Kelaniya Bridge to Colombo Port Entrance and  the second elevated highway with a distance of 6.9 Kilo Meters and consisting of 4 lanes will be constructed from Kelaniya Bridge to Rajagiriya while it will connect to Battaramulla,Malabe,Athurugiriya and the outer circular expressway.

Navy Have Detained Two Suspects With 2.7 Kilo Grammes Of Kerala Cannabis In Mannar

The Navy have today(02) detained  two persons in Elluththur ,Mannar(In Northern Province) while transporting 2.7 Kilo Grammes Of Kerala Cannabis .

A team attached to  Gajaba Unit of North Central Naval Command had arrested the two suspects with haul of Kerala Cannabis .The suspects were later handed over to the Mannar Police for further investigations.

Wife Of Imprisoned Former DIG Vaas Gunawardena Has Been Remanded Until 16th Of March

The Colombo Additional Magistrate has today (02) remanded Shyamali Priyadarshani Perera the wife of  imprisoned Former Senior Deputy Inspector General Of Police(DIG) Vaas Gunawardena until 16th of March after she was arrested and produced before court .

The Former DIG's wife has been remanded for Illegal Possession and transporting of Fire Arms.Her husband the former DIG Vaas Gunawardena and their son had been sentenced to death recently over a killing of  Colombo based Businessman.
