Public Is Advised To Be On Alert On A Viral Eye Disease Spreading Most Parts Of The Country

The Ophthalmologists  are requesting the public to be on  alert on an Eye Disease known as "Viral Conjunctivitis"which  is spreading in mos parts of the country at present.Redness in Eyes, tearing and Scratching of the eyes are the main symptoms of this disease according to them.

A large number of patients suffering from this eye disease are daily receiving treatment through the  Colombo Eye Hospital and other government hospital  eye clinics throughput the country these days   it has been reported.The Ophthalmologists are advising the public to seek medical treatment immediately if someone has shown the symptoms given.

Nine Suspects Who Were Arrested Regarding Gang Raping Of The Kayets School Girl Were Remanded Until 15th Of June

All nine suspects who were arrested regarding the kidnapping,gang raping and murdering of a 18 year old School Girl in Kayets(Northern Province) have been further remanded until 15th of June by the Kayets  Magistrate today(01).The magistrate has ordered to remanded the suspects further after they were produced before the Kayets Magistrate Court today.

Meanwhile 43 out of the 47 persons who were arrested and remanded for  protesting unlawfully  in front of the Jaffna Court Complex  were also further remanded after they were produced before the  Court today.

Former First Lady Was Questioned By The Police Financial Crimes Investigations Division

The former first lady Shiranthi Rajapakshe who was summoned today(01) by the Police Financial Crimes Investigations Division has stated that state funds were not used in running 'Siriliya Saviya" Charity Organization chaired by her.She was asked to appear before the Division this morning to record  a statement regarding the  allegation leveled against her on  controversial  transactions of several bank accounts belonging to the said charity organization.


The statement of Former first lady is due to be recorded at Financial Crimes Investigations Division building at 9.30 a.m but due to the security reasons she was asked to come to another place to give the statement.A group of people has seen gathered in front of the investigations division building this morning to support Mrs.Rajapakshe.

During the questioning the former first lady has said that her charity organization received money through local and foreign donations and all the money has spent in transparent manner.

Former First Lady Shiranthi Rajapakshe To Appear Before Police Financial Crimes Investigations Division Tomorrow(01)

The former first lady Shiranthi Rajapakshe is due to be appeared before the Police Financial Crimes Investigations Division tomorrow morning at 9.30 a.m to give a statement regarding the spending of money received by the Carlton Siri Liya Saviya Programme chaired by her.

The Police Financial Crimes Division has requested the Former First Lady who is the wife of former president mahinda rajapakshe to appear before the division tomorrow.

The media coordinating officer of the  Mrs.Rajapakshe,  Anoma Weliwite has stated that former first lady has not involved in politics and she has done charity work involved in children.she has received foreign funds for her charity work which have been spent in transparent manner  the media coordinating officer has further said.

Meanwhile a protest campaign organized by a group of youth to oppose the former first lady's visit to financial crimes investigations division tomorrow was held today(31) at hambanthota
district.

Six OIC'S Have Been Transferred With Immediate Effect

The Police Department has transferred Six OIC'S with immediate effect.According to the Police Media Spokesman Police Superintendent Ruwan Gunasekere OIC'S of Maligawatte,Habaraduwa,Baduraliya,Bakamuna Police Stations and OIC'S of Police Statistics Division and Polannaruwa Intelligence Unit have been transferred due to service requirements.

They have been replaced by six OIC'S of different police stations the Police Media Spokesman has said.
