Medicinal Drug Prices To Be Reduced Soon Under The National Drug Policy Act-Health Minister

Image result for drugs in local marketThe Medicinal Drug Prices in the local market will be reduced definitely under the National Drug Policy Act   according to Minister Of Health,Nutrition And Indigenous Medicine Dr.Rajitha Senaratne. 

The Ministry Of Health has reached an agreement with Multi National Drug Companies importing western drugs to Sri Lanka and accordingly a new price mechanism will be introduced for drugs soon Health Minister has said.

After introducing the new price mechanism for drugs a flying squad will be formed at the Independent Drug Regulatory Authority to check  whether the mechanism is functioning correctly he has revealed.

"Now everyone is seems to be afraid of some provisions contained  in National Drug Policy Act and they should have been afraid on regulations not the provisions of  the act" The Minister has stressed.

According to the Health Minister he has already gave instructions for the relevant authorities to make regulations regarding implementing the price mechanism for drugs.

"We need to fill the shortage of pharmacists at Independent Drug Regulatory Authority in view of activating  the new price mechanism of drugs Minister has further added.

Austrian Air Lines Has Today (28)Launched It's First Direct Flight To Colombo From Vienna

The Austrian Air Lines has today (28) launched it's first  Direct Flight to Colombo from Austrian Capital Vienna the Air Line's third destination in Indian Ocean following  Mauritius and Maldives.

Austrian Air Lines will be using a Twin Asle Boeing 767 Air Craft for it's Direct Flight to Colombo from Vienna and the first flight touched down today  at Katunayake Bandaranaike International Air Port according to the Air Line's Chief Commercial Officer Andreas Otto.This Air Line is the only European Air Line in the German Speaking Region of Europe that flying Directly to Colombo Austrian Air Lines Chief Commercial Officer has stated.

Austrian Air Lines is hoping to attract Passengers of Switzerland And Germany to use this Direct Flight to Colombo the Travel Daily Media has reported by quoting otto.

Fifty New Police Officers Are To Be Recruited To Investigation Division Of Bribery Commission

The Commission To Investigate Allegations Of Bribery Or Corruption today(28) had approved to recruit 50 new Police Officers to it's Investigation Division according to Director General Of the Commission Dilrukshi Dias Wikramasinghe.

The new group of Police Officers is  scheduled to be recruited have given a four week training regarding the activities of  Bribery Commission's Investigation Division Director General has stressed."These Police Officers were  scheduled to be recruited under the  previous Commissioner.But he has not approved to recruit them" she has stressed.

Meanwhile around 3190 complaints have been received by Bribery Commission up to now including a complaint against bribery commission's previous commissioner it has been reported,However the complaint against previous commissioner has now been withdrawn the reports said.

37th Death Anniversary Of "Nightingale Of Sinhala Cinema "Fall Today(28)

The 37th Death Anniversary of Sri Lanka's First Actress who is popularly known as "The Nightingale Of Sinhala Cinema" Great Cinema Personality Late Rukmani Devi  fall today(28).She was born in 15th of January 1923 and became the first Sri Lankan Actress after castes the main role of First Sri Lankan Movie "Kadawuna Poronduwa"(Broken Promise) screened in 1948.

She has died on 28th of October 1978 due to a tragic accident occurred at Thudella,Ja Ela(In Western Province).

HIV/AIDS Is Not A Deadly Disease Any More-Dr.Sisira Liyanage

hiv aids සඳහා à¶´ිà¶±්à¶­ුà¶» à¶´්‍රතිඵලHIV/AIDS is not a deadly disease anymore and a person contacted with the virus can live full life time of a normal person due to the newly invented drugs for HIV/AIDS according to Director Of National Sexually Transmitted Diseases/AIDS Control Programme -Dr.Sisira Liyanage.

"If a person living with HIV/AIDS Virus continue medicines per doctor's advise they can live full life time of a normal person without any difficulty " Dr.Liyanage has stressed.

Speaking on HIV/AIDS Situation in Sri Lanka the Director of National Sexually Transmitted Diseases/AIDS Control Programme has stated the disease has been transmitted here mainly due to the unprotected heterosexual behavior and 95% of the HIV Positives reported this year have contacted the virus due to this.

Sri Lankan Navy Had Arrested 34 Tamil Nadu Fishermen With 7 Boats While Fishing In Sri Lankan Waters

Sri Lankan Navy had detained another 34 Tamil Nadu Fishermen with 7 boats they were in while fishing in Sri Lankan Waters it has been reported today(27).

The arrested fishermen belonging to Nagapattinam and Ramanathapuram Districts of Tamil Nadu according to the government.

Due to the frequent arrests of Tamil Nadu Fishermen by Sri Lankan Navy a group of All India Anna Drvida Munnethra Kazhagam (AIADMK) Party law makers have yesterday (26)met Indian External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and demanded the  immediate intervention of Indian Government on the issue.

New Electronic Identity Cards To Be Issued For All Sri Lankan Citizens Before End Of 2016

National Identity CardNew Electronic Identity Cards will be issued to the all Sri Lankan Citizens from Next January according to Minister Of Finance Ravi Karunanayake.The issuance of these Identity Cards will be completed before end of next year(2016) the Minister has said.

All the Sri Lankan Citizens Will Be issued this new electronic identity card with a new number and ID'S will incorporate Finger Prints ,Blood Group and Family Details according to the Finance Minister.

The aim of this move is to reduce forgery and fraud and to provide for future national security needs.

As an initial step for  issuance of New Electronic Identity Cards to all Sri Lankan Citizens ,The Grama Seva Officers will be trained on how to collect data and obtain  finger prints of citizens ,and thereafter these Officers will begin collecting data from next August it has been reported.

The Ministry Of Finance with technical assistance of ICTA( Information And Communication Technology Agency Of Sri Lanka) launched an electronic population registrar which contains the basic information of all Sri Lankan Citizens the Minister has stressed.

One Hundred Seventy HIV/AIDS Positives Have Been Reported From The Island During January To September 2015


Image result for hiv/aids virusOne Hundred Seventy HIV/AIDS Positives have been reported from island during the period January to September this year and 65% of them were  men according to Director of National Sexually Transmitted Diseases /AIDS Campaign Dr.Sisira Liyanage.

Men are at the risk of contacting    HIV/AIDS Virus more than women due to their sexual relationship with both men and women Dr.Liyanage has said.

Around 95% of the HIV/AIDS Positives reported this year up to now have been contacted the  virus due to heterosexual behavior and 4% have been Mother To Child Transmissions.Around 1% have been contacted  the virus due to Injecting of  Drugs he has stressed.

According to the latest statistics of National STD/AIDS Campaign there are 2241 Cumulative HIV Positives in the country at the end of September this year.

Dr.Liyanage has revealed these facts during  the Press Briefing held today(26) at UNAIDS Sri Lanka Office in Colombo.
