Maharagama "Apeksha" Hospital To Perform "Allogeneic " Bone Marrow Transplants (Performing By Using Donor Blood Cells) From This Year


Maharagama "APEKSHA " Hospital is planning  to perform "Allogeneic "Bone marrow Transplant ( Bone Marrow Transplant performs by using  healthy blood-forming cells donated by someone else.) from this year according to the senior Oncologist Dr.Prasad Abeysinghe .

The Saint Vincent Hospital at Sydney ,Australia has provide the facilities to "Apeksha "Hospital in this regard by training 04 Consultants ,05 Doctors,05 Nurses and 02 MLT's on "Allogeneic" Bone Marrow Transplants Dr.Abeysinghe has stressed.

During a special meeting held at the Ministry of Health regarding performing "Allogeneic" Transplants in "Apeksha " Hospital recently under the patronage of Health Minister Dr.Rajitah Senaratne ,Doctors have requested the Health Authorities  to increase the number of rooms allocated for residing those who are due to undergo Bone Marrow Transplants from 02 rooms to 08 rooms .

"Apekhsa "Hospital is currently performing "Autologous" Bone Marrow Transplants(Transplanting  patient's own  blood-forming  cells collected, frozen and stored) according to reports.
