Airport Customs Officers have arrested five Sri Lankan Businessmen who had attempted to
smuggle 286 Cigarette Cartons containing 57,200 foreign made Cigarette sticks illegally to the country at Kaytunayake,Bandaranaike International Airport in wee hours of this morning (10).
The five suspects who are of the ages 20 to 35 years and residing in Colombo and Meerigama areas had arrived in from Sarjah City at United Arab Emirates and Dubai . The stock of Cigarette cartons had hidden inside their luggage it has been revealed.
The estimated value of the stock of Cigarette Sticks taken in to custody in possession of the suspects is around Rs.3.14 million according to reports.
