Former President Mahinda Rajapakshe Has Announced His Resignation From Premiership -United Peoples Freedom Alliance

Former President Mahinda Rajapakshe has short while ago announced his resignation from
the Prime Minister post during a meeting held with United Peoples Freedom Alliance (UPFA) MP's (Now introduced them as Podu Jana Peramuna MP's ) at his official residence in Wijerama Road ,Colombo-07 according to the sources.

The former President Rajapakshe has been appointed as Prime Minister on 26th of October by the President Maithripala Sirisena through a Constitutional Coup rejected by many local political parties ,Public ,Civil activists ,Intellectuals, Organizations as well as foreign governments .

He has refused to step down as a Prime Minister even after majority in Parliament had passed  two  no confidence motions in the house recently against him and his illegitimate cabinet .President Sirisena has backed the former President Rajapakshe's actions during last one and half months in view of keeping him as premier until conducting a general election .

However as Supreme Court Judge panels had unanimously cancelled the Gazette Notification issued by President Maithripala Sirsiena regarding dissolving parliament and refused to grant stay order against the interim order issued by Court of Appeal preventing him from functioning as Premier ,Former President Rajapakshe has yesterday announced he will be resigned from premier post.

However many have argued that the former president has already lost his premiership after passing of  two no confidence motions against him in the Parliament  and there's no post remain  with him to resign .
