Milk Powder Companies have requested the Consumer Affairs Authority to allow them to increase the price of Milk Powder by Rs.70 Per kilo gramme due to the incresed prices of Milk Powder in the World Market as a result of the imcreased value of the US DOllar against the Sri Lankan Rupee.The value of a Sri Lankan Rupee against the US Dollar is around Rs.160 at present and as a result the Milk Powder Companies now need to spend 3450 US Dollars to import a metric tonne of Milk Powder comparing to the previous price of US Dollars 3250 per metric tonne according to the Milk Powder Companies.
