Residents Prevented Cut Down Of A 200 Year Old Tree In Badulla

An  attempt made  by State Timber

Corporation officials to cut down a 200 year old tree believes to be a Mahogany variety located in front of the Badulla District Secretariat had been prevented due to the protests of residents in the area it has been reported yesterday(05).

However amidst the protests of the residents in the area the State Timber Corporation officials had chopped some branches of the old tree by stating that they were decayed.But the residents of the area have said that the branches of the tree are not decaying and are in good form.
