Addressing a press briefing held at the SLMC premises last noon (18) Dr.Gunasekera has stated that Police officers  who arrived in the scene last Saturday(13)  had gathered evidence regarding the hand bomb throwing incident and thereafter nothing has happened . Even the Police security has not been provided up to date  to the Medical Council premises which is a body responsible for  quality of the medical education in  Sri Lanka he has stressed.

"SLMC  has requested from the Inspector General Of Police to  provide police security for it's premises after the hand bomb throwing incident and still not received any positive response for that. This institution should be protected for the sake of implementing a quality medical service in the country " Dr.Gunasekera has said.

Addressing the briefing Professor Narada Wanasuriya who is also a SLMC Member has stressed that  the SLMC is not an instrument of the Government Medical Officers Association  at all and some politicians had misinterpreted the SLMC activities by considering it's stand on the SAITM Issue.

"What can someone gained by throwing a hand bomb at the Medical Council premises the president of the SLMC Professor Carlo Fonseka has questioned during his speech .
