The Sri Lanka Navy had today(08) arrested 12 local fishermen for illegally fishing in the Sri Lankan Waters Off Silawathurai.Without a valid fishing permit the 12 arrested local fishermen were engaged in fishing by using unauthorized nets at the time of their arrest the Navy have stated.
Navy Officers have taken into custody three mono filament nets,four dinghi boats and three diving masks in the possession of fishermen it has been reported.The Navy had handed over the suspected fishermen and their equipment to the fisheries director in Mannar for further investigations.
