The day of mourning declared by the President Maithripala Sirisena behalf of the former Prime Minister Late Rathnasiri Wikramanayake who passed away yesterday(27) has been cancelled as per the request of former Prime Minister's family members ,the Minister of Home Affairs Vajira Abeywardena has stated.
Earlier today Minister Abeywardena has informed the Media that a day of mourning has been declared by the President on this Friday (30) in respect of late Prime Minister Wikramanayake.
However as the day of mourning has been cancelled ,the funeral of former Prime Minister will be held with full state honors the Minister has stressed.He has requested the authorities to hoist the National Flag half mast in state and Private Institutions to respect late Former Prime Minister.
The late Prime Minister's funeral is due to be held at Horana on 31st of December.
