The 4% increase of VAT(Value Added Tax) and 2% NBT(Nation Building Tax) will be implemented with effect from today(01).Accordingly the Value Added Tax will be increased by 4% from 11% to 15% including goods and services like Tobacco,Telecom,Milk Powder,Air Ticket Fees,Private Medical Services excluding Dialysis,Diagnostic Services and OPD services.The Nation Building Tax will remain unchanged as 2%.
A total number of 82 essential goods and services have been excluded from the VAT increase it has been announced.
