A suspect had thrown a hand grenade at Athurugiriya Police officers when the officers went to arrest him over a case to his residence in Athurugiriya Area this morning.As a result of the grenade attack Police Officers had shot the suspect , but he escaped and fled away from the scene according to the police.
No one was injured due to the grenade attack ,however Police believed the suspect may have been injured due to the gun shooting.
Athurugiriya Police have launched a search operation to arrest the suspect.
