India To Invest US Dollars 2 Billion Investment In Sri Lanka-Indian Minister Nirmala Sitharaman

The Indian Minister of state for Commerce and Industry Nirmala Sitharaman has stated today (27) in Colombo that the Indian Government is looking to invest US Dollars 2 billion investment in Sri Lanka despite the Sri Lankan government's decision to scrap the Indo-Sri Lanka joint venture coal power plant project in Sampur.

Speaking to the Media after the end of her three day state visit to Sri Lanka the Indian Minister has stated that the Indian government is open for discussions with Sri Lankan government and business community on the proposed Economic and Technological Cirporation Agreement(ETCA).

The Sri Lankan Minister of International Trade Malik Samarawikrama has stated that the proposed ETCA Agreement will be opened up a market of 1.25 billion people in India.

Both Ministers had stated that the discussions on ETCA now in the final stage and it will be signed soon.
