In Sri Lanka out of those who are suffering from mental disorders only 20% receiving treatment according to the Minister Of Health,Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine Dr.Rajitha Senaratne.
Addressing the 13th annual sessions of the Collage of Psychiatrists held in Colombo recently the Health Minister has stated that one person out of every ten persons in Sri Lanka is suffering from some kind of mental disorder and the reasons behind these mental disorders are complex.
Due to the Tsunami Disaster in 2004 and the war in north and east the mental health status of most of the people have been deteriorated and an active action plan needed to be implemented to solve this situation Minister Senaratne has further added.
