The former Army Commander and a Minister of present government field marshal Sarath Fonseka who is the leader of Democratic Party has today(30) joined the ruling United National Party(UNP).The appointment letter of UNP Membership was handed over to the field marshal fonseka by UNP Leader Ranil Wikramasinghe at Sirikotha this morning.
After received the UNP Membership field marshal fonseka has stated that although he is no longer a member of Democratic Party the party will not be dissolved.
The UNP has earlier signed a collective agreement with field marshal fonseka's Democratic Party in February
