Health Minister Has Instructed Authorities To Issue Cataract Lenses Free Of Charge For All Cataract Patients Due To Undergo Surgery

Image result for cataractMinister Of Health ,Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine Dr.Rajitha Senaratne has instructed the Director General Of Health Services Dr.Palitha Mahipala to issue eye lenses free of charge for all the cataract patients who are due to under go surgeries in the Colombo National Eye Hospital .

Up to now only the low income group eligible to receive Rs.2000 worth eye lenses for cataract surgeries under the vision-2020 programme attached to the Ministry Of Health.

The Minister Dr.Senaratne has stated during a meeting held with government eye surgeons that representatives of several multinational companies which produced eye lenses are daily arrive at Eye Hospital premises in Colombo in view of marketing their products.A good quality eye lens needs for cataract surgeries is cost around Rs.10,000-12,000 and as most of the cataract patients not able to purchase them due to the higher prices ,Health Ministry will issue them free of charge for all the patients .

Dengue Is Spreading As An Epidemic In Ten Districts

Dengue is spreading as an epidemic in Ten Districts of the island at present according to Ministry Of Health,Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine.

Accordingly Ten Districts including of Colombo,Gampaha and Kandy have been  identified as Dengue Epidemic Zones.

From January this year  to up to now 20,462 Dengue Patients have been reported from the island and 35 have died due to the disease the Ministry has stated.

Meanwhile according to the Chief Medical Officer in Colombo Dr.Ruwan Wijemuni around 1681 Dengue patients have been reported from the city of Colombo during last six months and out of them the majority of patients around 427 had reported from Eastern Colombo area. Kirulapona.Narahenpita,Modara-Mattakuliya,Pamankada,Milagiriya and Maharagama have identified as Dengue Epidemic Zones in City Of Colombo.

The doctors have advised the public to keep the environment of their houses and gardens free from mosquitoes in view of avoiding spreading of Dengue and take treatment from a qualified government doctor or from a government hospital if someone develops dengue symptoms like fever lasted more than three days,muscle pain,body pain,vomiting,stomachache and headache .

Deputy Minister Thewarapperuma Has Been Hospitalized After Attempting To Commit Suicide

Image result for thewarapperumaA Deputy Minister of the present government Palitah Thevarapperuma has been today(30) admitted to the Kalutara ,Nagoda Hospital following attempted to commit suicide at a school in Matugama it has been reported.

The Deputy Minister who had began a fasting campaign along with several others at the school premises on 27th of June has threatened to commit  suicide if the authorities failed to admit ten students whose admissions were denied by the Mathugama School .He was also staged a protest campaign at the school premises today by urging that he will leave the government if it fails to admit these students to the school.
