A part of the Rs.450 million worth stock of surgical items and medicinal drugs stored at sub drug store in Kotikawatte(In Colombo)Area which attached to Medical Supplies Division(MSD) of the Ministry Of Health has been destroyed due to the recent floods according to the Ministry.The exact value of the stock of surgical items and medicinal drugs that destroyed at the Kotikawatte sub drug store is not yet estimated Ministry has stated.
The officers of stock survey board along with a team of officers including an insurance agent are currently engaged in a survey to find out the value of destroyed drug items at kotikawatte sub drug store and after the survey concludes the stock of destroyed drugs will be dumped Health Ministry sources stressed.
The authorities have taken steps to transfer remained stock of surgical items and drugs in good quality at kotikawatte sub drug store to other drug stores it has been revealed.However this stock will only be used after subjecting it to a quality test sources added.
