Sri Lankan Navy Personal have last Wednesday (09) arrested 20 persons with a haul of 220 Kilo Grammes Of Sea Cucumbers harvested illegally in Pallekuda Beach Area(Northern Province).However the detained persons were released per the instruction of Assistant Director Of Fisheries in Kilinochchi while the haul of Sea Cucumbers has been handed over to Assistant Director Of Fisheries according to Navy Media Unit.
Meanwhile in another incident Sri Lanka Navy Personal have arrested two persons along with a haul of 621 Kilo Grammes Of Sea Cucumbers in their possession at Kirimundalam in Kalpitiya last Wednesday.
The haul of Sea Cucumbers worth around Rs.10 Million had been smuggled from India via Sea Route by using small fishing craft according to Navy.
The detained persons and the haul of Sea Cucumbers were handed over to the Assistant Fisheries Inspector's Office in Puttalam for a legal action.
