Venerable Uduwe Dhammaloka Thero who was arrested and remanded over keeping a two and half year old Elephant Calf in his possession illegally has been released on bail today(11) by the Colombo Magistrate .Uduwe Thero who was arrested by Criminal Investigations Department(CID) Officers on Wednesday at his Alan Mathiniyaramaya Temple in Polhengoda has been released on three personal bails of Rs.3 million each by the Colombo Additional Magistrate Nishantha Pieris.
Venerable Thero's was released after his lawyers submitted a motion to the court seeking bail on the basis that Thero wanted to pay his last respect to the late Chief Prelate of Asgiriya Chapter Most Venerable Galagama Aththadassi Thero who passed away last Wednesday(09).
